Summer Gymnastics Classes

Summer Gymnastics Class Schedules (June, July, and August)

Ages:
Kindergym for ages 3 & 4.
JuniorGym for ages 5, 6, & 7
SeniorGym for ages 8-11.

YMCA Gymnastics is a class for boys and girls with age appropriate skills in tumbling, floor exercises, bars, vault, and beams! Rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and other fundamental floor exercises are taught all in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere.

All class are held at the Pharr YMCA.

Registration: Open
Please register your child and they will be placed in a class that suits their skills.  Preferences do not gurantee class days and times.

Days & Times:
Classes are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and run from 2:15 pm through 6:45 pm. Each class is 45 minutes long.

KinderGym: Tuesdays at 3:00 pm, 3:45 pm and 5:15 pm.  Wednesdays at 2:15 pm and 3:00 pm.

JuniorGym: Tuesdays at 3:45 pm and 5:15 pm.  Wednesdays at 3:00 pm and 3:45 pm.

SeniorGymTuesdays at 4:30 pm.  Wednesdays at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm

Advanced ClassWednesdays at 5:15 pm.

Class fees: Non-refundable registration fee $20.00 per student

Members – $40.00/month
Program Participants – $50.00/month

The Burn: Labor Day 5K presented by CaroMont Health

The Burn: Labor Day 5K presented by CaroMont Health

Join us for the 2nd Annual YMCA Labor Day 5K: The Burn!

Monday, September 7th@ 8:00am

Accept the challenge this Labor Day, September 7th, by taking on the Tower Trail at Crowders Mountain State Park. This up and back race will begin at 8:00 am at the Linwood Road access and follow the winding gravel road just past the 1.5 trail marker. Space is limited.

Parking: All parking will be available at Karyae Park, 4227 Linwood Road (0.7 miles away) and shuttle service will be provided.

5K (INCLUDES  T-SHIRT) Fees:

Early packet pick up will be Saturday, September 5th  at Walk & Run Belmont, 200 N. Main Street in Belmont,  from 10AM-3PM.  Day of race packet pick up will be at Crowders Mountain State Park Linwood Road access from 7:00 am until 7:45 am.

Can I walk the 5K?

The 5K is open to walkers and runners alike.

Can I wear headphones, run with my pet or push a baby stroller?

Headphones are allowed, but please be aware and cautious of your surroundings. Pets and strollers are not permitted.

My family wants to volunteer. How can they?

Gastonia Grizzlies 5K presented by Precision Machine

Join us for the 3rd Annual Grizzlies 5K!

Friday, July 17th @ 6:00pm

Kick off the Gastonia Grizzlies Midnight Madness double header  baseball game & fireworks with the third annual Grizzlies 5k. Runners start in the outfield of Sims Park, wind through the North Gastonia Greenway, and finish at home plate. All runners will receive a game ticket, t-shirt, and all the entertainment that evening.

Course map here Note: The race starts in right field and ends with a 1/4 mile run around the inside of the baseball field.

Spencer Mountain 10 Mile & 5K

Spencer Mountain 10 Mile & 5K

Participate in the Spencer Mountain 10 Mile & 5K this year! Proceeds benefit LIVESTRONG at the YMCA.

Saturday, November 7th. Both races begin at @ 8:00 a.m. at Warlick School, 1316 Spencer Mtn. Road, Gastonia, NC 28054. Some GPS devices may note this as Ranlo, NC.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their “new normal”. The program is conducted outside of medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is about health, not disease.

How do I register online for the Spencer Mountain 10 Mile or 5K?

Will there be an early packet pickup?

Yes, early packet pick up will be Friday, November 6th at the Walk & Run Belmont, 200 Main Street in Belmont  from 10AM -6PM.

Can I walk the 10 Mile or 5K?

The 5K is open to walkers and runners alike. However, the 10 Mile course is limited to 2 1/2 hours so we can fully open up the roads to traffic.

Where should I park?

Please park at the field North of Warlick School. The church across the street does not like us parking there.

Can I wear headphones, run with my pet or push a baby stroller?

Headphones are allowed, but please be aware and cautious of your surroundings. We try to lessen as much traffic as possible, but realize we cannot close off ten miles in five towns 100 percent. Pets are not allowed for the safety of all runners. Strollers are allowed for the 5K (good luck).

How many water stops are there?

There are two water stops for the 5k and five water stops for the 10 Mile. Please stay hydrated.

What awards can I expect for my fantastic performance?

Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd per gender and in increments of five year age groups will be awarded. In addition, all 10 mile finishers will get a medal for completion.

Summer Camp

BEST SUMMER EVER!

Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.

The Gaston County Family YMCA offers four camp locations throughout the county during the 10-week summer following the Gaston County Schools calendar.

Ages: 3 years +

American Red Cross Progressive Swim Lessons offers water safety and foundational swimming concepts in a safe and fun environment for preschoolers. Simple lifesaving skills, basic water safety, and stroke development is offered for children 6 years +. During all swim lessons, participants and instructors find opportunities to learn and demonstrate the YMCA core values, (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith).

Personal Training

Personal Training (Private)

Ages: 12+

Private personal training is 1 on 1 fitness training with a nationally certified YMCA personal trainer. The trainer trains the client using strength training, cardio training, and nutritional counseling and monitoring. Sessions are 1 hour in length and can be purchased in 1, 5, 10, 15 and session packages.

Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability.

Cost:

1 Session – $49
5 Sessions – $205
10 Sessions – $370
15 Sessions – $495

Personal Training (Small Group Classes)

Ages: 12+

A group personal training class is personal training in a small group setting. The session length is determined by the class specifics and what it dictates the length to be in order for the clients to achieve their goals. Classes are created based on specific branch need and want and trainer experience and availability.

Offered to YMCA members only and must have a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 10 in order to have the sessions.

Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability. Classes are 4 to 8 weeks in length depending on specific class.

Cost:
Sessions – $10 per session per client and must be paid in full prior to start of class sessions. For example, if the class meets 2x per week for 4 weeks the total cost to the member is $80 and this must be paid prior to the start of the 4 week program.

The 3rd Annual Gaston Cup  focuses on corporate health and wellness. The Gaston Cup Series provides businesses with a long-term initiative that helps establish healthy lifestyle changes for their employees.

Micro, Small , Medium and Large businesses complete in a series of run/walk races throughout the year. The business with the highest employee participation percentage will win their category Gaston Cup for that year.

Ensuring A Brighter Future

The YMCA provides a quality, Christian-oriented experience that is safe, fun, and convenient. Y After School operates throughout Gaston County providing enrichment from school dismissal until 6:00 pm daily. During this time we aim to shape character by modeling, teaching, and reinforcing positive values to all students. The YMCA believes in the character development traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith. The YMCA offers two on-site After School locations and fifteen off-site locations throughout the county.
