Daddy Daughter Date Night

Daddy Daughter Date Night

Fathers, uncles and grandfathers…escort your daughter, niece or granddaughter to Princess Date Night! You and your special date(s) will enjoy a very magical and memorable evening together. A disc jockey will be spinning some songs for your dancing enjoyment. Light snacks will be served and a photographer will be on hand to capture the moment.

Come dressed in semi-formal attire: dresses for the girls and suit/tie are recommended for the gentlemen.  We can’t wait to see you there!

Ages: Open to all ages

Cost: $15/couple for YMCA members, $20/couple for program participants ($5 each additional child). 

Day of registration: $20/couple for YMCA members, $25/couple for program participants

Photos will be available for an additional cost by cash or checks.

Spring Break Camp

Spring Break Camp

The YMCA offers full day care during extended school breaks at both the Central and Stowe YMCA locations which includes Spring Break.  Full Day care will be provided for all registered at either a daily or multi-day rate.

Students registered for After School and/or Summer Camp at the YMCA are not automatically registered or charged for this program.  Specific Registration is necessary.

The camp day is from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm daily.

Middle School Basketball

Middle School Basketball

Ages: Children in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades will play games against other middle school children from all over Gaston County.

Registration is open from now until Sunday, January 25th.  This program does have a registration limit. Late registration will result in a $10 late fee if space is available.
When: Practice begins the week of February 27th, and will be twice weekly based on the coaches’ preference. Games will take place on Saturday mornings starting February 2nd, 2015.

Where: All games will take place at the Central YMCA, located at 615 W Franklin Blvd. Gastonia, the Stowe Family YMCA, 196 YMCA Dr. Belmont, and Nixon Gym, 401 E. First St, Cherryville. Practices will take place at the Central, Stowe, and Cherryville branches if registration preferences allow.

Player Assessment Day and Draft: Players will participate in player assessment drills on Tuesday, January 27th at 7:00 pm at the Stowe Family YMCA.  Each player will asked to wear a certain number during the drills session.  All players will be drafted to teams by the coaches at the coaches’ meeting following the player assessment drills, and will be contacted with their team assignment on January 28th.

Group Swim Lessons

Group Swim Lessons

Ages: 3 years +

American Red Cross Progressive Swim Lessons offers water safety and foundational swimming concepts in a safe and fun environment for preschoolers. Simple lifesaving skills, basic water safety, and stroke development is offered for children 6 years +. During all swim lessons, participants and instructors find opportunities to learn and demonstrate the YMCA core values, (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith).

Preschool Session Days & Times:
Tuesday & Thursday 5:00-5:30/6:00-6:30 pm
Saturdays  10:00-10:30 am/11:00-11:30 am

Youth Session Days & Times:
Tuesday & Thursday 5:30-6:00/6:30-7:00 pm
Saturdays 10:30-11:00 am/11:30-12:00 pm

Personal Training

Personal Training (Private)

Ages: 12+

Private personal training is 1 on 1 fitness training with a nationally certified YMCA personal trainer. The trainer trains the client using strength training, cardio training, and nutritional counseling and monitoring. Sessions are 1 hour in length and can be purchased in 1, 5, 10, 15 and session packages.

Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability.

Cost:

1 Session – $49
5 Sessions – $205
10 Sessions – $370
15 Sessions – $495

Personal Training (Small Group Classes)

Ages: 12+

A group personal training class is personal training in a small group setting. The session length is determined by the class specifics and what it dictates the length to be in order for the clients to achieve their goals. Classes are created based on specific branch need and want and trainer experience and availability.

Offered to YMCA members only and must have a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 10 in order to have the sessions.

Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability. Classes are 4 to 8 weeks in length depending on specific class.

Cost:
Sessions – $10 per session per client and must be paid in full prior to start of class sessions. For example, if the class meets 2x per week for 4 weeks the total cost to the member is $80 and this must be paid prior to the start of the 4 week program.

The Gaston Cup

The 2nd Annual Gaston Cup  focuses on corporate health and wellness. The Gaston Cup Series provides businesses with a long-term initiative that helps establish healthy lifestyle changes for their employees.

Micro, Small , Medium and Large businesses complete in a series of run/walk races throughout the year. The business with the highest employee participation percentage will win their category Gaston Cup for that year.

Mandatory swim test includes—300 yard swim (front crawl and breast stroke), jump in and swim 20 yards to retrieve and return a 10 lbs. brick, tread water with feet only for 2 minutes. Attendance mandatory at all session dates and must be 15 years old by the date of the last class.

Lifeguard & Water Safety Instructor Certifications

Lifeguarding

Lifeguarding is an important lifesaving skill in every community. Complete a lifeguarding course available this at the Stowe YMCA with possible employment opportunities upon completion. The participant will receive life guarding, first aid, CPR for the professional rescuer, and Automated External Defibrillator.

3 Session Available: Feb. 16th-19th, March 12th-14th, April 6th-8th

Water Safety Instructor Certification

Being safe in and around the water is an important skill to learn and share with others.  This class will prepare participants to teach swim lessons to children and adults as well as  other water safety courses. Possible employment opportunities upon completion.

Prerequisites — Swim various strokes for 25 yards, including butterfly, tread water for 1 minute. Participants must be 16 years old by the date of the last class

Ensuring A Brighter Future

The YMCA provides a quality, Christian-oriented experience that is safe, fun, and convenient. Y After School operates throughout Gaston County providing enrichment from school dismissal until 6:00 pm daily. During this time we aim to shape character by modeling, teaching, and reinforcing positive values to all students. The YMCA believes in the character development traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith. The YMCA offers two on-site After School locations and fifteen off-site locations throughout the county.
