Gaston County Family YMCA

Cherryville Family YMCA

YMCA sports programs emphasize family involvement, team building, individual development, healthy competition over winning at any cost, and developing the values of respect, responsibility, caring, honesty, faith and fun over shaping the next superstar.  YMCA sports programs are open to all, regardless of ability or disability.  Financial assistance is available to those in need.

The Cherryville YMCA will be hosting Spring Soccer and Flag Football, Summer Swim Club, and Fall Soccer and Flag Football!  Check out the schedule and additional information by clicking here.

Summer Camp

Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.

The Gaston County Family YMCA offers four camp locations throughout the county during the 10-week summer following the Gaston County Schools calendar.

Spring Youth Soccer

Spring Youth Soccer

Join the Cherryville Family YMCA for Spring Soccer 2015. This program will allow children to progressively develop their skills with smaller team sizes, professional practice plans for coaches, and more opportunities for each child than ever before.  We focus on family involvement, team building, confidence, and developing our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.  Registration is open through March 15th.

Curriculum-Our curriculum is based on more touches per child.  This means your child will handle and control the ball more throughout the season.  Smaller team sizes, and less players on the field during games will allow for your child to play the ball more often, and develop their coordination, balance, striking, and maneuvers.  Practice plans for every coach ensure you that your child will be learning age appropriate skills, and they will learn the same things as all the other children in his or her age division.  New rules will create less stoppage time during games, and increase the amount of time actually playing the game.  This soccer season is intentionally efficient, and will increase personal growth and development for every child.

Ages-Children ages 3-14 will play in the following leagues: 3-5, 6-7, 8-10, 11-14.  Registration is open until March 15th.  Late registration will result in a $10 late fee if space is available.

When and Where-Practice begins the week of March 23rd, and games will follow, beginning Saturday, April 11th.  Practices and games take place weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. All games and practices will take place at the Arron Moss Park, and the High School soccer field.

Coaches-We need volunteer coaches in every age group.  Please consider coaching a team this season by indicating your interest on your registration form.  The Parents meeting will take place on Sunday, March 15th at 7:00 pm in the Cherryville YMCA Aerobics room.

Uniform Items Provided-Your child will be outfitted with team shirt and socks.

Registration-  Member – $50               Program Participant – $75
