LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
The Y and LIVESTRONG joined together to create LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a free 12-week physical activity and well being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals. The small group, research-based program offers cancer survivors a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities.
Survivors work with YMCA certified instructors to build muscle mass, strength, flexibility and endurance while improving confidence and self-esteem. In addition to physical benefits, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community for people impacted by cancer.
The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program is available at every Gaston County Family YMCA location.
Celebrate the kick off of ChristmasTown USA with a festive 5K under the lights. Co-organized with the McAdenville Women’s Club, the race will start and end at the J.M. Carstarphen Bridge in McAdenville. Proceeds benefit the Pharr Family YMCA & McAdenville Women’s Club.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers.
Will there be an early packet pickup?
Yes, and this is encouraged. Early packet pick up will be Wednesday, November 26th from 10am – 3pm, Friday, November 28th from 10am-6pm at Walk& Run Belmont, 200 Main Street. Packet pickup on race day will be at Legacy Park will be held from 3-5:30 pm. You can pick up your friends bibs but must sign off.
Where will the 5K go?
The unofficial route can be found here. The race will begin on the Carstarphen Bridge and go left at Church Street at the roundabout on Wesleyan Dr. The route will wind around Lakeview Baptist Church, and go left on the roundabout towards McAdenville School. It will turn around near Forest Heights and run down the Wesleyan Dr. hill. Next the race will go left on Poplar street and a left on Main street. It will turn around near the Main Street median divide and end back on Carstarphen Bridge.
Can I walk the 5K?
The 5K is open to walkers and runners alike. However, be mindful of runners competing. There will be a one hour limit for walkers to complete the race.
Will the ChristmasTown Lights be on?
The lights will be on for the runners and walkers to enjoy. However, they will be turned off after the race has been completed, except in the area of the post party.
I see registration is full. Is there ANY way I can run the 5K?
Once we have reached the capacity. This number was based on the recommendation by the experts from US Track & Field, Cramerton Police, and race committee approval.
Where should I park?
Parking confirmations will be announced.
I am unable to attend the race? What should I do?
No. Race fees are non-refundable.
Can I wear headphones, run with my pet or push a baby stroller?
Headphones and strollers are allowed, but please be aware and cautious of your surroundings. Pets are prohibited.
How many water stops are there?
There will be at least two water stops for the 5K.
What awards can I expect for my fantastic performance?
Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd per gender and in increments of five year age groups will be awarded. The post party will be held at Legacy Park near the finish line.
My family wants to volunteer. How can they?
Please have them contact Kelly Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteers will a receive t-shirt, snacks, and lots of love from the YMCA.
Where does my hard earned money go for this race?
Your fees support the Pharr YMCA and the McAdenville Women’s Club.

In this six week program, your coach is committed to giving you the support, knowledge and encouragement you need to motivate and inspire a healthy lifestyle so you can feel and see results.
Stop by the Welcome Center to sign up for a coaching appointment that fits your schedule! You will spend 30 minutes a week with your wellness coach to design a program based on your personal wellness goals.

Group Exercise Classes
Ages: 12+ (16 for Les Mills BodyPump™ classes)
Whether you’re new to exercise or getting back into it, group exercise is a great way to get moving, make friends and stay motivated. We offer classes for all ages, all levels and all interests. From low-impact exercise and chair classes, stretching and strength training to indoor cycling, water exercise, and yoga, you’ll find a group class that’s fun, supportive and keeps you moving.

Youth Fitness Orientation
Ages: 9 – 15
Youth fitness orientations are 1 on 1 fitness instruction to youth age 9-15 that include weight room, cardio room equipment usage instruction and safety information. The program is intended to introduce youth to exercise in a safe and supervised environment. After completion of the program the youth can use the cardio and/or the weight room with the supervision of a parent or guardian.
Dates & Times: 1 hour scheduled appointments with YMCA fitness staff anytime they are available within the normal operating hours of the Y.
Personal Training (Private)
Private personal training is 1 on 1 fitness training with a nationally certified YMCA personal trainer. The trainer trains the client using strength training, cardio training, and nutritional counseling and monitoring. Sessions are 1 hour in length and can be purchased in 1, 5, 10, 15, and 30 session packages.
Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability.

Personal Training (Small Group Classes)
A group personal training class is personal training in a small group setting. The session length is determined by the class specifics and what it dictates the length to be in order for the clients to achieve their goals. Classes are created based on specific branch need and want and trainer experience and availability.
Offered to YMCA members only and must have a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 10 in order to have the sessions.
Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability. Classes are 4 to 8 weeks in length depending on specific class.
Sessions – $10 per session per client and must be paid in full prior to start of class sessions. For example, if the class meets 2x per week for 4 weeks the total cost to the member is $80 and this must be paid prior to the start of the 4 week program.
