Current Sports Programs
YMCA Tee Ball
Join us this summer for a fun and recreational Tee Ball League designed especially for our 3 – 6 year old kids! We focus on fundamentals and confidence on this twice weekly sport.
Ages – 3 – 6 years in two age divisions. 3 – 4 League and 5 – 6 League
Registration – Now through June 3rd. Late registration will encure a $10 late fee if space is available.
Practice – Four practices will take place before the season begins with the first being Tuesday, June 12th.
Games – All will be played at the Pharr YMCA on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning Tuesday, June 26th and ending Thursday, July 19th.
Cost – $50 for YMCA Members, $75 for Non Members
Volunteer coaches are needed! Each team will need a coach to lead the way. Please contact Hobie Dunn if you are interested at hdunn@gastonymca.org.
Central YMCA Weekly Basketball Clinic
Shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and core workouts will be the focus of this weekly clinic for 7 – 17 year olds. Instructors are all coaches and volunteers from the Gastonia AAU Huskie Optimist program.
Sessions – Ages 7 – 11 Monday 6:30 – 7:15 pm
Ages 12 – 17 Mondays 7:15 – 8:00 pm
Class fee - $30/month for Members, $40/month for Non Members beginning April 30th.
Sport Summer Camp
Join the Pharr Family YMCA this summer for Sports Camp and Gymnastics Camps! These half day camps will focus on specific skills each morning as well as be a lot of fun!

Parents Morning Out
A Place to Learn, A Place to Grow
Ages: 2 – 5 Years Old
This half day 2 – 5 year old program is a perfect introduction into a school-based program. We meet three times weekly from 9:00 – 12:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at the Stowe YMCA. The class is organized to combine educational components, physical activities, and socialization!

Afterschool
Ensuring A Brighter Future
The YMCA provides a quality, Christian-oriented experience that is safe, fun, and convenient. Y After School operates throughout Gaston County providing care from school dismissal until 6:00 pm daily. During this time we aim to shape character by modeling, teaching, and reinforcing positive values to all students. The YMCA believes in the character development traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith. The YMCA offers two on-site After School locations and fifteen off-site locations throughout the county.

Home School – Gym and Swim
Ages: 5 years +
The Stowe Family YMCA is the perfect place for your child to develop sports skills in a non competitive environment. Transition to the pool for stroke development, personal water safety, rescue and personal growth are included. During all swim lessons, participants and instructors find opportunities to learn and demonstrate the YMCA core values, (Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith).

Middle School Madness
Ages: Middle School Students
Join the YMCA on the third Friday of each month for an evening of dancing, basketball, video games, and more! The Y is just for teens! We will offer a DJed dance, basketball and/or dodgeball tournaments, video games, pizza, snacks, swimming for all who attend from 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm.

Parents Night Out
Ages: 3 years through 5th grade
Once a month the YMCA is THE PLACE for kids! Kids can enjoy an evening at the YMCA while swimming, playing games, eating dinner, and being silly while their parents are out and about!

Parents Morning Out Swim Lessons

Parents Morning Out is excited to offer two day a week swim lessons as an additional option. Lessons are on Monday and Wednesday morning.

Childwatch & Gameroom
Ages: 6 weeks – 6 years old
New expanded hours are being offered for June, July, and August so that you can take some of our many great group fitness classes.
Childwatch is a free program at the YMCA facility where child can be involved in supervised activities while parents enjoy their workout. We offer two age appropriate rooms for child ages 6 weeks to 12 years old to learn, grow, and develop social skills. Members may use this service up to 2 hours per day.
