The Stowe YMCA offers the following Amenities:

Hours of Operation:

The Stowe YMCA Fitness Center is open during normal operating hours:

Monday –Friday  5:30am – 9:30pm

Saturday            7:00am – 6:00pm

Sunday              1:30pm – 5:30pm

 

Fitness Orientations:

All members receive complimentary one-on-one fitness training until they feel comfortable using the cardio and strength equipment.  Call or stop by and see a fitness attendant to set up an appointment.  Your fitness attendant will educate, motivate, and create a personal fitness program based on your individual goals.  Dress in workout clothes for your orientation.

 

Fitness Assessments: 

Fitness instructors can assess a member to obtain baseline information about cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, body composition, blood pressure and resting heart rate.   This data is used to create a workout program that meets a member’s specific needs.

Cost:  Initial appointment is free.  $15.00 for any retest.

Group Fitness Program:

At the Stowe YMCA, we offer over 65 Group Fitness Classes throughout the day each week. A wide variety of cardiovascular, strength and flexibility classes are available such as BODYPUMP, Step, Indoor Cycling, Yoga, Pilates, Kickboxing, FitTots, FitFamily, plus more.  Classes are offered for all fitness levels.  They are fun and a great way to meet friends, plus the instructor helps you stay focused and motivated.  Find a class that is right for you.

 

Personal Training:

Youth/Teen Fitness:

Youth/Teen Fitness Orientations are designed to teach youth and teens basic information about cardiovascular and strength training, physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.   Members 9-15 learn about basic fitness, cardiovascular training and basic weight training.  Youth who have had a full fitness orientation and are wearing a visible Youth/Teen Fitness Badge may use the Fitness Center at any time.

Cost: $20.00 one time fee.  Members only.

Youth Attendance Policies

  • Youth under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian while at the Y.
  • Youth ages 12 - 16 may not be on the YMCA grounds for more than 3 hours without adult supervision, unless enrolled in a YMCA staff-supervised program.
  • Fitness Center, Pool, and Gymnasium rules are posted and must be observed at all times.
  • Proper and respectful behavior at the Stowe Family YMCA is expected at all times.  Failure to follow staff instructions may result in suspension of membership and program privileges or dismissal from the YMCA.

 

Personal Training Program Design

This 10-week personalized program will help you reach your fitness goals - anything from marathon training to weight loss!  Shawn Rymer, our Wellness Director, will work with you one-on-one to assist you in this process.  Contact him at 704.822.9622 or email srymer@gastonymca.org for more details or download the flier.

Walk/Run Club

The Walk/Run Club is for all members from walkers to advanced runners who would like to receive advice on exercise programs for runners and walkers and information on local races in the community.  Members will keep a tracking sheet of workouts and keep a journal of your weekly mileage.   The program is free to members, just see a Fitness Attendant  to sign up and get your tracking sheet
