COVID-19 and the YMCA

Updated May 20, 2020

Today we learned that gyms will not be included in NC’s Phase 2 of easing restrictions. We are disappointed because we know that our fitness centers improve health and give us the opportunity to connect face-to- face with people we care about. However, it’s the love we have for our members and communities that compels us to follow the path that our state has provided to reopen with safety at the forefront.
We know that for a while longer, visits to restaurants, stores and even our Y will feel a bit different. We’ve worked with health experts and our local health department to prepare our Y for your safe return. We’re grateful for your understanding and for the concern you’ve shared for our staff who stepped up during this pandemic to make wellness calls to members feeling isolated, deliver meals to children and seniors, and organize blood drives. We remain grateful to our members and donors for continuing to #StayWithUs as we continue to serve our neighbors when they need us most.

In health,

Sharon Padgett
CEO
Gaston County Family YMCA

In an effort to prevent continued spread of COVID-19, our Y has made the difficult decision to close buildings effective Tuesday, March 17. The information below is an effort to update our members and participants on the impact of program and facility changes. If you have a question we have not addressed here please use this link and our leadership staff will be in contact with you.

Membership

At the Gaston County Family YMCA, everything we do is guided by our Mission and our commitment to serve and support the community. This is even more critical now. When you belong to the Y, you’re not only a member of a health and wellness facility, you’re a member of an organization dedicated to strengthening our community. In difficult times, our YMCA pivots in response to community needs and finds ways to use our resources to offer solutions.

Please take a moment to review our Membership Options.

Whatever you choose, we thank you for your support and understanding. Please take care of yourself and one another. Our community is strong, and together, we will get through this.
