Fitness Orientations

The YMCA offers adult and youth/teen wellness floor orientations for our new and existing members.

Both orientations are hosted by YMCA wellness floor staff and include information on adjusting equipment to fit you, proper use of equipment, and wellness floor etiquette.

At the Y, we’re here to help you reach your wellness goals. With that in mind, we’ve created a new member Fitness Orientation to get you started on the path to success.

This orientation is a 30 minute informational session that will provide you with the basics of how to use the weight machines and cardio equipment. Wellness staff will help each individual learn how to start, stop, and change settings on cardio machines, adjust seat height and weight selection on machines, and have a discussion of proper form on the weight machines. Y staff will discuss goals and assist in setting members on a path to success.

Fitness orientations are an excellent first step! Members looking for ongoing guided workouts should consider personal training. Click here to learn more.

Youth and teen fitness orientations are 1 on 1 fitness instruction for those age 9-15. These sessions introduce youth and teens to weight machines and cardio room equipment usage instruction and safety information.

The program is intended to introduce youth and teens to exercise in a safe and supervised environment. After completion of the program the youth and teens can use the cardio and/or the weight machine room with the supervision of a parent or guardian.
