Cherry Blossom 5K
It’s spring and a great time to get outside. We are excited to get back together and challenge you to run or walk through the rolling hills of Cherryville! Our race will begin and end at the First Presbyterian Church, located on the corner of Academy and Mountain Street before heading northeast towards Cherryville Elementary School. We will celebrate together at the finish line with music and snacks!
NEW! 1-Mile Bubble Run!
We are adding some BUBBLE-RIFIC fun to the 1-mile race! Come out with your kiddos – both young and young at heart – and run through bubbles at the beginning and end of the race! Bring some bubbles with you! We would love to add as many bubbles and smiles to the race as possible.
Proceeds Benefit Cherryville Family YMCA
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Cherryville Family YMCA Annual Giving Campaign which provides access to Y programs and services for individuals in need of financial assistance as well as sustaining the Y in Cherryville. The Y is passionate about community and what being part of a small group can do for your spirit. Learn more about the Campaign HERE.
Dogs are welcome! Bring your pup and let them get in on the exercise and fun! The first dog to cross the finish line will receive a Top Dog tag!

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:
How do I register?
This year we are registering through Run Sign Up – Click here to sign up for the race. Register by April 20th.
Why is the 5K race at 10 am?
The 5K race is at 10 am to allow for runners to get to Cherryville in time to run! It also allows runners to run BOTH the Belmont Classic and Cherry Blossom 5K! What a challenge! The Gaston Run Series is awarding DOUBLE POINTS for completing both races!
Will I get a race shirt?
Yes! Runners and walkers will receive a race shirt as long as they register prior to April 11. Those after April 11 will be first come first serve at packet pick up.
Why is a Bubble Mile?
A Bubble Mile makes running a mile MUCH MORE FUN! We are adding bubbles to the start/finish to make the race more exciting. Please bring along your favorite bubble wand to get in on the fun!
When is packet pickup?
Packet pick up will begin Saturday, April 23 at 8:15 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 107 West Academy Street, Cherryville.
Can I walk the 5K?
The 5K is open to walkers and runners alike. We will not have an awards division for walkers.
This race also offers a 1 Mile walk option open to both kids and adults alike!
Will the kids 5K or walk be timed?
- Kids racing at the reduced price will not receive a time. If your child would like to be timed please register them for the full 5K.
- The 1 mile bubble run/walk will not be timed.
Can I wear headphones, run with my pet or push a baby stroller?
Headphones are allowed, but please be aware and cautious of your surroundings. We try to lessen as much traffic as possible, but realize we cannot close off traffic 100 percent. Your leashed dog can run with you for no extra charge, and may even win the dog division- just hold on when our New Year Shooter shoots the starting musket! Strollers are allowed.
Is this course flat or hilly?
This course is hillier than it looks! It offers a challenge and includes several rolling hills.
Where can I find information on the course?
Our course is certified by US Track & Field. The map and details can be found here.
My family wants to volunteer. How can they?
Great! Please contact Josey Messer at firstname.lastname@example.org directly!
