Stowe YMCA Summer Men’s Basketball Leagues

Register today for our Men’s Competitive or Recreational Basketball Leagues at the Stowe YMCA.  These leagues for players 18 years and older offer fellowship and friendly competition beginning July 8th, 2015.

Registration:

Competitive League – You must register with a team to play in this league.  This league is for teams with serious players that want to play tough competition, and compete at a high level with elite players.  Free Agent Registration will not be accepted into this league.

Recreational League – This league is for more casual teams that love to play basketball.  Teams in this league will contain your everyday players.  This league is great for fun, healthy competition and great exercise.  You may sign up as a free agent for this league.  Free agents may be combined to create a free agent team, or be added to another existing team if accepted by a team.

Both leagues’ registration are open now through July 2nd or until full.

Cost:

Members Fee – $40

Program Participants Fee- $60

Team Registration – Each player on a team must register individually, and pay their member or program participant rate.  There is no group or team rate.

Games:

Sunday afternoons from 2:00 – 8:00 pm, and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 10:30 pm at the Stowe Family YMCA beginning Wednesday, July 8th.  Each team will play at least 8 regular season games followed by a tournament.

Team Limits:

8 player minimum

Summer Gymnastics Classes

Summer Gymnastics Class Schedules (June, July, and August)

Ages:
Kindergym for ages 3 & 4.
JuniorGym for ages 5, 6, & 7
SeniorGym for ages 8-11.

YMCA Gymnastics is a class for boys and girls with age appropriate skills in tumbling, floor exercises, bars, vault, and beams! Rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and other fundamental floor exercises are taught all in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere.

All class are held at the Pharr YMCA.

Registration: Open
Please register your child and they will be placed in a class that suits their skills.  Preferences do not gurantee class days and times.

Days & Times:
Classes are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and run from 2:15 pm through 6:45 pm. Each class is 45 minutes long.

KinderGym: Tuesdays at 3:00 pm, 3:45 pm and 5:15 pm.  Wednesdays at 2:15 pm and 3:00 pm.

JuniorGym: Tuesdays at 3:45 pm and 5:15 pm.  Wednesdays at 3:00 pm and 3:45 pm.

SeniorGymTuesdays at 4:30 pm.  Wednesdays at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm

Advanced ClassWednesdays at 5:15 pm.

Class fees: Non-refundable registration fee $20.00 per student

Members – $40.00/month
Program Participants – $50.00/month

ChristmasTown 5K

ChristmasTown 5K

Celebrate the kick off of ChristmasTown USA with a festive 5K under the lights.   Proceeds benefit the Pharr Family YMCA & McAdenville Women’s Club.

Saturday, November 28th @ 6:00 PM.

Registration will only be accepted during packet pick up Wednesday and Friday at Walk and Run Belmont during the times listed below.

Race is limited to the first 1200 participants. Register online until November 24th or download the form here.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers.

How do I register online for the ChristmasTown 5K?

Will there be an early packet pickup?

Yes, and this is encouraged. Early packet pick up will be Wednesday, November 25th from 10am – 3pm, Friday, November 27th from 10am-6pm at  Walk& Run  Belmont, 200 Main Street. Packet pickup on race day will be in front of the Pharr Yarns corporate office on Main St and Wesleyan Dr. from 3-5:30 pm. You can pick up your friends bibs but must sign off.

Where will the 5K go?

The route can be found here. The race will begin at on Elm Street by Legacy Park and go left to the  Carstarphen Bridge. The route will turn around near the end of the bridge and go up Wesleyan Dr to the roundabout. It will go left at Church Street, left at Cedar and turn around at the stop sign. The route will head up and back on Cedar Street and Church Street, and go left on the roundabout towards McAdenville School. It will turn around near Forest Heights and run down the Wesleyan Dr. hill. Next the race will go left  on Main street. It will turn around near the Main Street median divide and end back down Elm Street near Legacy Park.

Can I walk the 5K?

The 5K is open to walkers and runners alike. However, be mindful of runners competing. There will be a one hour limit for walkers to complete the race.

Will the ChristmasTown Lights be on?

The lights will be on for the runners and walkers to enjoy. However, they will be turned off after the race has been completed, except in the area of the post party.

I see registration is full. Is there ANY way I can run the 5K?

Once we have reached the capacity. This number was based on the recommendation by the experts from US Track & Field, Cramerton Police, and  race committee approval.

Where should I park?

McAdenville streets will close by 5:15PM. Prior to this time, parking is available at the field next to Pharr Yarns corporate office by the Carstarphen Bridge. Parking and shuttle transportation will also be at Cramer High School, beginning at 4:30PM.

I am unable to attend the race? What should I do? 

Unfortunately, race fees are non-refundable.

Can I wear headphones, run with my pet or push a baby stroller?

Headphones and strollers are allowed, but please be aware and cautious of your surroundings. Pets are prohibited.

How many water stops are there?

There  will be at least two water stops for the 5K.

What awards can I expect for my fantastic performance?

Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd per gender and in increments of five year age groups will be awarded. The post party will be held at Legacy Park near the finish line.

My family wants to volunteer. How can they?

Please have them contact Susan Mosk at smosk@gastonymca.org. Volunteers will a receive t-shirt, snacks, and lots of love from the YMCA.

Where does my hard earned money go for this race?

Your fees support the Pharr YMCA and the McAdenville Women’s Club.

 

 

 


Summer Camp

BEST SUMMER EVER!

Camping, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities.

The Gaston County Family YMCA offers four camp locations throughout the county during the 10-week summer following the Gaston County Schools calendar.

Personal Training

Personal Training

Personal Training (Private)

Ages: 12+

Private personal training is 1 on 1 fitness training with a nationally certified YMCA personal trainer. The trainer trains the client using strength training, cardio training, and nutritional counseling and monitoring. Sessions are 1 hour in length and can be purchased in 1, 5, 10, 15 and session packages.

Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability.

Cost:

1 Session – $49
5 Sessions – $205
10 Sessions – $370
15 Sessions – $495

Personal Training (Small Group Classes)

Ages: 12+

A group personal training class is personal training in a small group setting. The session length is determined by the class specifics and what it dictates the length to be in order for the clients to achieve their goals. Classes are created based on specific branch need and want and trainer experience and availability.

Offered to YMCA members only and must have a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 10 in order to have the sessions.

Dates & Times: Anytime the facility is open and is offered year around. Training times are based on client needs and trainer availability. Classes are 4 to 8 weeks in length depending on specific class.

Cost:
Sessions – $10 per session per client and must be paid in full prior to start of class sessions. For example, if the class meets 2x per week for 4 weeks the total cost to the member is $80 and this must be paid prior to the start of the 4 week program.


Ballroom Rental

Have your next function in Christmas Town, USA! Great place to have your wedding, reception, Christmas party or your child’s 1st birthday. We have a ballroom that is approximately 36 ft wide and 60 ft long with beautiful hardwood floors and a fireplace with gas logs.

A refundable $100 deposit is required to reserve the space.

Ensuring A Brighter Future

The YMCA provides a quality, Christian-oriented experience that is safe, fun, and convenient. Y After School operates throughout Gaston County providing enrichment from school dismissal until 6:00 pm daily. During this time we aim to shape character by modeling, teaching, and reinforcing positive values to all students. The YMCA believes in the character development traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith. The YMCA offers two on-site After School locations and fifteen off-site locations throughout the county.
