Youth Flag Football

Youth Flag Football

Ages: 5-14 (In 4 age divisions, 5-6, 7-8, 9-11,  and Middle School 12-14)

Youth Flag Football is a great sports opportunity to play football in a contact free league.  Players will learn football fundamentals and game concepts in a fun, safe environtment where they can learn how to work together and succeed together.  Register today for this co-ed, recreational league.

Registration: Now – October 4th. This program does have a registration limit.  There is a $10 non-refundable late fee for all players registered after October 4th, if space is available.

Practice and Games: Practice begins the week of October 19th.  Teams will have 4 practices before games start, with practices on Mondays or Tuesdays and Saturdays for 2 weeks.  Games will follow with each team playing games twice a week, on Monday or Tuesday and Saturday for the rest of the season starting the week of November 2nd.  The final game of this 8-game season is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th.

Where: All games and practices will take place at the Pharr Family YMCA 208 Main Street McAdenville with the exception of the games on November 7th and 21st, which will be held at the Central YMCA.

Coaches: We need volunteer coaches in every age group.  Please consider coaching this season by indicating so on your registration form and by contacting Ben Oeser at the Pharr Family YMCA.  All coaches must submit a volunteer application which can be picked up at any YMCA branch, or by clicking here.  The coaches meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13th, at 7:00 pm at the Stowe Family YMCA.

Mouth Guards: All player are required to wear mouth guards.

Participant – $77
Includes a uniform top, end of season award, and an 8-game season.

Afterschool Program Gymnastics and Dance Classes

Afterschool Gymnastics and Dance Classes (Fall 2015 Semester)

The Afterschool Gymnastics and Dance classes are for boys and girls that are currently enrolled in the YMCA Afterschool Program.  Your child will be picked up by the YMCA bus from their Afterschool site and brought to the Pharr YMCA for a gymnastics or dance class which will begin at 5:00 pm.  Parents should pick up their children at the Pharr YMCA when their class is over at 5:45 pm.  Registration is on-going, however, you must register no later than Wednesday of the week before your child begins the program.  You can register for 1 month, or for the entire fall semester.  Fall semester classes begin September 14th and 15th, and end December 14th and 15th.  Stowe YMCA Afterschool site participants will attend these classes on Mondays, while Central and South Gaston YMCA Afterschool site participants will attend these classes on Tuesdays throughout the semester.  Check the list of Afterschool sites by branch below the class descriptions to see which day your child will attend.

Afterschool Gymnastics

In this gymnastics class, your child will learn age-appropriate skills in tumbling, floor exercises, bars and beams. Rolls, handstands, cartwheels and other fundamental floor exercises are also taught in this fun and noncompetitive atmosphere.

Afterschool Dance

This dance class is for boys and girls that offers age-specific ballet and creative movement skills.  Students will learn French ballet vocabulary and movements.  They will also choreograph and create dances based on books and educational concepts like “outer space.”  At the end of the semester, students will share their dancing skills and choreography at a recital that will be held during regular class time.

Stowe YMCA Afterschool Sites (Participants at these sites attend classes on Mondays)

Central and South Gaston YMCA Afterschool Sites (Participants at these sites attend classes on Tuesdays)

Class fees: $30 for all YMCA Afterschool participants.

All classes are held at the Pharr YMCA.

Togetherhood Volunteer Project

Togetherhood invites Y members to activate their social responsibility by participating in the Y’s cause to strengthen community. Togetherhood provides Y members with fun, convenient and rewarding ways to give back and support their neighbors.

 

Habitat Build Project

Join your Y friends and Neighbors as they support the community through Habitat for Humanity.  During this build our team will focus on the installation of doors and windows! 10 volunteers are needed!

The Pharr Family YMCA is excited to offer dance and gymnastics classes for ages 3– Teens. Our dance and gymnastics classes are designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills and cultivate imagination, creativity and social development in a caring environment. Students will grow and develop as they learn the fundamental vocabulary and skills associated with gymnastics and dance. Classes start September 1, 2015 and run through May, 2015. Registration is continuous.

All class are held at the Pharr YMCA.

ChristmasTown 5K

ChristmasTown 5K

Celebrate the kick off of ChristmasTown USA with a festive 5K under the lights.   Proceeds benefit the Pharr Family YMCA & McAdenville Women’s Club.

Saturday, November 28th @ 6:00 PM.

Registration will only be accepted during packet pick up Wednesday and Friday at Walk and Run Belmont during the times listed below.

Race is limited to the first 1200 participants. Register online until November 24th or download the form here.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers.

How do I register online for the ChristmasTown 5K?

Will there be an early packet pickup?

Yes, and this is encouraged. Early packet pick up will be Wednesday, November 25th from 10am – 3pm, Friday, November 27th from 10am-6pm at  Walk& Run  Belmont, 200 Main Street. Packet pickup on race day will be in front of the Pharr Yarns corporate office on Main St and Wesleyan Dr. from 3-5:30 pm. You can pick up your friends bibs but must sign off.

Where will the 5K go? Is it certified by US Track & Field

The race will begin at on Main Street north of the Pharr YMCA and go left to the  Carstarphen Bridge. The route will turn around near the end of the bridge and go up Wesleyan Dr to the roundabout. It will go left at Church Street, left at Cedar Street, then right on Lakeview Dr. The route will head up Church Street, and go left on the roundabout towards McAdenville School. It will turn around near US-74, back to the turnaround and left around Academy Street. It will then go down the Wesleyan Dr. hill. Next the race will go left  on Main street and finish where it started.

Can I walk the 5K?

The 5K is open to walkers and runners alike. However, be mindful of runners competing. There will be a one hour limit for walkers to complete the race.

Will the ChristmasTown Lights be on?

The lights will be on for the runners and walkers to enjoy. However, they will be turned off after the race has been completed, except in the area of the post party.

I see registration is full. Is there ANY way I can run the 5K?

Once we have reached the capacity. This number was based on the recommendation by the experts from US Track & Field, Cramerton Police, and  race committee approval.

Where should I park?

McAdenville streets will close by 5:15PM. Prior to this time, parking is available at the field next to Pharr Yarns corporate office by the Carstarphen Bridge. Parking and shuttle transportation will also be at Cramer High School, beginning at 4:30PM.

I am unable to attend the race? What should I do? 

Unfortunately, race fees are non-refundable.

Can I wear headphones, run with my pet or push a baby stroller?

Headphones and strollers are allowed, but please be aware and cautious of your surroundings. Pets are prohibited.

How many water stops are there?

There  will be at least two water stops for the 5K.

What awards can I expect for my fantastic performance?

Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd per gender and in increments of five year age groups will be awarded. The post party will be held at Legacy Park near the finish line.

My family wants to volunteer. How can they?

Please have them contact Susan Mosk at smosk@gastonymca.org. Volunteers will a receive t-shirt, snacks, and lots of love from the YMCA.

Where does my hard earned money go for this race?

Your fees support the Pharr YMCA and the McAdenville Women’s Club.

 

 

 


Ballroom Rental

Have your next function in Christmas Town, USA! Great place to have your wedding, reception, Christmas party or your child’s 1st birthday. We have a ballroom that is approximately 36 ft wide and 60 ft long with beautiful hardwood floors and a fireplace with gas logs.

A refundable $100 deposit is required to reserve the space.
